The Best Skincare Treatments to Get in the Winter

Although people usually associate winter with dreary weather and dry complexions, it presents a wonderful opportunity for your skin. With fewer daylight hours, heavier clothes and fewer outings, your skin heals faster and your road to glowy, fabulous skin is shorter.

There are a lot of skin care procedures that benefit from being done in the winter, and I’m going to let you know the best ones to book during these cold months!

1. CoolPeel CO2 by Deka

The CoolPeel CO2 is a laser treatment for patients who are seeking skin resurfacing for brown spots, fine lines, pigment, scars (including acne scars), sun spots or wrinkles. The SmartXide Tetra CO2 laser is one of the most advanced CO2 technologies available, with the ability to perform a broad range of treatments. Casey can easily select the precise power needed to tailor and optimize treatments of all expectations.

Because the laser will peel off a layer of your skin to reveal the smooth, even skin underneath, you need to give it time to heal by avoiding the sun and activities that put your skin at risk. That’s why the winter is a great time to get a CO2 Peel!

2. TCA Peel

A TCA Peel is a chemical peel made with trichloroacetic acid. It is a medium to deep peel that can treat actinic keratosis, melasma, wrinkles, acne scars and sun damage. Although it varies based on the individual, patients can expect to be healing for 5-14 days.

Similar to the CoolPeel CO2, a TCA Peel requires downtime. It’s not the type of treatment you want to get before a vacation or big event. You’ll want to avoid outings, the sun and anything else that will leave your skin at risk, making winter a much easier time to get this peel than the summer.

3. NovaThread Lift

The NovaThread Lift is one of my favorite treatments! Whether alone or in conjunction with Sculptra and other fillers, the NovaThread Lift has powerful results! Small threads are inserted at different levels within the cheek and neck and then gently pulled upwards to lift unwanted sag and laxity of the facial tissue. The threads are then cut, leaving you with a beautiful lift and hidden absorbable sutures. The Nova Thread Lift lifts, tightens and creates collagen over four to eight weeks.

Following a NovaThread Lift, you are okay to resume normal activities but it is suggested that you avoid the sun, alcohol intake and heavy physical activity. That’s why receiving this treatment in the winter may be the ideal choice.

4. Jaw, Cheek and Lip Augmentations

Jaw, cheek and lip augmentations are used to alter the appearance of your face using fillers. This is a great procedure for anyone wanting extra volume or definition in certain areas of the face.

Depending on the type of augmentation you get, the recovery process varies, but I suggest getting these procedures done in the winter so that you are fully healed and ready to be out and about when the weather starts warming again!

5. Liquid Facelifts

A liquid facelift is a facelift done with dermal fillers in a non-surgical manner. It’s ideal for those with mild wrinkles and sagging. It can also minimize scars, plump your cheeks and add volume to your brow.

Following a liquid facelift, it is recommended that you get plenty of rest and avoid the sun for at least 24 hours, making this procedure another great one to check off of your list during the dreary winter months!

6. Deep Microneedling

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses an electric needling system to cause micro-wounds of the face and areas of treatment. As your skin heals, it produces collagen and elastin and improves texture and scarring. It can be used in combination with serums, antioxidants, PRP, stem cells and hyaluronic acid. When your skin undergoes microneedling, your skin will be highly sensitive as it is essentially wounded and exposed. Because of this, you need to avoid the sun and anything else that could cause damage to your healing skin. To make this easier, get this treatment in the winter instead of the hot summer months.
